Homemade Conditioner – Some Recipes for Different Hair Types

5 Min Read

Did you know that you can make your own homemade conditioner? Using a conditioner is important to keep the hair free from tangles, which helps prevent split ends and breakage. And it is a good idea to use one with natural ingredients, free from chemical additives and parabens. Plus, you will save money from making it yourself out of ingredients you have in your cupboard. We have a few tips for how to make the best homemade conditioner.

For Dry Hair: Coconut Oil and Honey

To treat dry hair and prevent frizz, mix equal parts coconut oil, honey and lemon juice. Add two parts of curd and a splash of rosewater. Mix it properly, apply like you do with a regular conditioner after shampooing, leave on for ten minutes and then rinse out.

For Oily Hair: Apple Cider Vinegar

This one is basically free. Just blend a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with a cup of water. If your hair or scalp easily gets greasy, add a couple of drops of an essential oil like bergamot, lavender, lemon, rosemary, sandalwood, tea tree, or ylang ylang. Just pick the one that smells best to you.

For Split Ends: Shea Butter

If you have dry hair and/or split ends, Natural Home Remedies For Life has a pretty heavy and highly moisturizing homemade conditioner that will make your hair feel full of volume. You slowly warm a cup of Shea butter until it is all liquid, then mix in five tablespoons of olive oil and let it sit for 30 minutes, but not until it is all set. Then whisk in half a teaspoon of vitamin E oil and about ten drops of your favorite fragrance oil, like peppermint, lavender, vanilla or any one you like. Whisk until the consistency is kind of like a mousse. When you apply it, focus on the ends of the hair rather than the scalp, as this is a very heavy conditioner made to repair split ends and make them silky.

For Curly Hair: Fruits and Oils

Natural Home Remedies also have a recipe for curly hair, which often gets dry and frizzy if you do not give it enough attention. This recipe will help define your locks and tame the frizz. Cut a ripe persimmon fruit into pieces and put them in a blender, then slowly add a twig of rosemary, eight tablespoons of honey, four tablespoons of almond oil and eight drops of fragrance oil. Apply it like a normal conditioner all over your hair and then rinse out with lukewarm water.

Homemade Conditioner For Everyone: Avocado

A classic ingredient for basically anything is the beloved avocado. Whichever hair type you have you can benefit from some creamy avocado mixed up with a little olive oil, honey and an essential oil. Leave it on for a little longer than you would a normal conditioner and then rinse out with lukewarm water.
